About Tarli Bird

Tarli Bird is a mixed-media artist whose practice is inspired by travel and the diverse landscapes, cultures and experiences encountered along the way. Combining paint with hand sewing, she creates vibrant works that translate the colours, textures and atmosphere of different places into visual narratives.

Paint allows Tarli to capture the shifting qualities of colour, light and mood found within both natural landscapes and built environments. Hand-sewn elements introduce an additional layer of texture and craftsmanship, with thread and stitch becoming an integral part of each composition. Through this combination of mediums, her works reflect the complexity and character of the places that inspire them.

Travel is central to Tarli’s practice, from expansive mountains and coastlines to bustling city streets and architectural details. Rather than simply documenting these places, she draws on her experiences and memories to create layered interpretations that celebrate a sense of place, movement and discovery.

Since graduating with a Master of Fine Art from Monash University in Melbourne, Tarli has developed a dynamic practice centred around experimentation with mixed media. She has exhibited internationally, including at The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles in 2025 and Chicago in 2026.
