ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lauren Tune

Lauren Tune is a Victorian-based artist working across painting and sculptural papier-mâché, with her current practice focused on hand-built vessels. Her work is driven by an interest in form, colour and repetition, embracing irregularity and the character that comes from making by hand.

Built slowly from layers of reclaimed paper, her sculptural vessels transform an everyday discarded material into bold, playful forms. In a culture of convenience and disposability, her practice embraces the slower process of making by hand, giving new life and value to something otherwise overlooked.

Stripes, checks and unexpected details recur throughout the work, with each piece retaining its own imperfections and personality.

Lauren’s practice celebrates the slightly offbeat and imperfect — creating pieces that feel considered without becoming too polished or precious.
